Most homeowners love their fences but they hate the maintenance that they require. But, the beauty of a well maintained fence is unsurpassed. Xtreme Property Maintenance has gained the knowledge and experience required to maintain exterior wood surfaces.
Locally we have available to us a variety of so called wood stains/sealers. We call them “so called” because whether it is an oil based or water based stain/sealer, they are all film forming stains. This means that they form a film on the surface of the wood somewhat similar to paint. You all know what happens to paint on wood. Cracking and peeling is what you get. We have cleaned and stained many decks with this very problem.
What is our difference?
Stain Quality is one difference. These are stains that are use by professional deck restoration companies across the country but they refuse to play the big box store game in order to sell their products there. These companies make wood stains and wood stains ONLY. They are not a paint company that decided to make stains. These stains are NOT film forming stains and will not crack or peel.
Experience is the other difference. Our proprietary deck cleaning and preparation methods make all the difference in the longevity of a stain product. For this reason we have selected Baker’s Gray-Away wood seal and the Armstrong-Clark line of wood stains.
There are companies out there that will throw some bleach and water on a fence and then throw on the stain. What’s wrong with this process? Well for one all they did was change the color and killed some mold and algae. The other thing they did was to change the PH level of the wood surface. Incorrect PH levels can cause a stain to prematurely fail. Stains require a neutral PH for maximum adhesion. Sure bleach is the quick way but it is not the correct way. They may say so but you can not neutralize bleach by dilution, it requires a very expensive chemical.
Our fence cleaning and preparation process leaves a neutral PH level for maximum stain penetration and performance.
